and I know it’s so much harder for you…:(
My midwife told me once she knew summer was over when the ironweed started blooming, and though I resisted that concept then (years ago), now I know it’s true. It’s dead-on Lammas when it starts to bloom.
Well thanks! I’m SO glad you are enjoying it! And your photo is really cool–I can definitely see the similarities.
fruit eaten directly off the plant is one of the best things on earth.
I walk in your garden in my mind.
unschooling rocks. My son was home schooled up until two years ago, so fourth grade. His mom was awesome at it. Then we moved him to a place in town called eco school, which was fabulous as well. They followed the same style of teaching, following the interest of the child, mostly. They were great, but they only had enough staff to teach until fourth grade. Then we thought we’d try public school. Connor’s mom was living in a really good district, and we thought if we were ever gonna give it a try, this school was perfect. A smooth transition.
Anyway, it’s a rough gig. I admire that you are taking it on. All in all, I admire you.
Thank you SO much! I really needed that today.
leaf rubbings
When you have the paper with you outside try some bark rubbings too. Seeing as trees have different types of bark, it can be another fun way to identify them!
pictures!
How did I not know about this till… September?? LOL I’m pleased that you liked the name I suggested!
Sandy
This is SO WEIRD!!! I’ve been working on my website all day, and I imported my livejournal into my website (using wordpress), which is a really neat feature, but for some reason, your comment came into the wordpress part of my webpage, and not my livejournal??? And how did you not see that entry, too (not that I would mind if you just wanted to go browsing about for art to view)– just WEIRD!!!!

Rita, thanks so much for your continued appreciation of my work! I’ll have to think of blogging tips…I’ve kept a blog for some time now, but sometimes I’m still at a loss of what to write!
You’re badass.
Wow- you can paint how it feels!! Enjoying your blog, too. so inspriational
Thanks, Cathy! I really appreciate your comment…I definitely focus on how something feels when I paint, and it’s so cool that you perceived that! I guess it means we’re on the same wavelength!
It’s beautiful!!
So much so, that I would like to visit the No. Carolina mts.
Your art captures the beauty of the deep woods with awe and reverence and the gentlest touch of whimsy.
It’s beautiful!!
Your art resonates with echos of enchantment.
Very beautiful!
Thank you, Barbara! If you do ever visit, I’ll give you a studio tour!

What a kind thing to do! I stumbled on your blog one day and really enjoy your work. It makes me smile when I look at it. I love art, but am not able to afford originals.
You will make a lucky someone’s day!
Melissa
Just talked to your aunt Ann who told me she is going to be the proud owner of a Stephanie original! I am so glad it will be somewhere where your grandma can see it. Love you Stephanie – Poppa
