Yesterday I was hanging it and I realized the reason I love it so much is it reminds me so much of the your print that she bought me (the one in your user pic on this post). The purples and yellows and black of the tree.
So I guess I wanted to share and say again how much I love your painting!
My midwife told me once she knew summer was over when the ironweed started blooming, and though I resisted that concept then (years ago), now I know it’s true. It’s dead-on Lammas when it starts to bloom.
unschooling rocks. My son was home schooled up until two years ago, so fourth grade. His mom was awesome at it. Then we moved him to a place in town called eco school, which was fabulous as well. They followed the same style of teaching, following the interest of the child, mostly. They were great, but they only had enough staff to teach until fourth grade. Then we thought we’d try public school. Connor’s mom was living in a really good district, and we thought if we were ever gonna give it a try, this school was perfect. A smooth transition.
Anyway, it’s a rough gig. I admire that you are taking it on. All in all, I admire you.
When you have the paper with you outside try some bark rubbings too. Seeing as trees have different types of bark, it can be another fun way to identify them!
This is SO WEIRD!!! I’ve been working on my website all day, and I imported my livejournal into my website (using wordpress), which is a really neat feature, but for some reason, your comment came into the wordpress part of my webpage, and not my livejournal??? And how did you not see that entry, too (not that I would mind if you just wanted to go browsing about for art to view)– just WEIRD!!!!
